Asymptotic stability of POD based model predictive control for a semilinear parabolic PDE

چکیده
In this article a stabilizing feedback control is computed for a semilinear parabolic partial differential equation utilizing a nonlinear model predictive (NMPC) method. In each level of the NMPC algorithm the finite time horizon open loop problem is solved by a reduced-order strategy based on proper orthogonal decomposition (POD). A stability analysis is derived for the combined PODNMPC algorithm so that the lengths of the finite time horizons are chosen in order to ensure the asymptotic stability of the computed feedback controls. The proposed method is successfully tested by numerical examples.

Internal Nonlinear Predictive Control of Semilinear Parabolic Equations
This paper introduces a method for synthesizing reduced-order nonlinear model-based predictive controllers that have support in an arbitrary open subset, for semilinear parabolic equations. The predictive control law is computed based on reduced-order, nonlinear multi-step-ahead finiteelement predictors, identified directly from experimental input-output data. An advantage of this approach is t...
متن کاملTrust-Region POD using A-Posteriori Error Estimation for Semilinear Parabolic Optimal Control Problems
An optimal control problem governed by a semilinear heat equation is solved using a globalized inexact Newton method. To reduce the computational effort a model order reduction approach based on proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) is applied. Within a trust region framework we guarantee that the reducedorder models are sufficiently accurate by ensuring gradient accuracy. The gradient error is...
متن کاملExact Global Controllability of Semilinear Thermoelastic Systems
Results of exact controllability will be reported for a semilinear thermoelastic system, with control placed in either the mechanical or thermal equation. The controlled partial differential equation (PDE) model will be considered in two cases: (i) rotational forces are present in the PDE, in which case, the underlying dynamics evince hyperbolic behavior; (ii) the rotational inertia parameter i...
متن کاملSolving the inverse problem of determining an unknown control parameter in a semilinear parabolic equation
The inverse problem of identifying an unknown source control param- eter in a semilinear parabolic equation under an integral overdetermina- tion condition is considered. The series pattern solution of the proposed problem is obtained by using the weighted homotopy analysis method (WHAM). A description of the method for solving the problem and nding the unknown parameter is derived. Finally, tw...
متن کاملPOD-Based Bicriterial Optimal Control by the Reference Point Method
In the present paper a bicriterial optimal control problem governed by a parabolic partial differential equation (PDE) and bilateral control constraints is considered. For the numerical optimization the reference point method is utilized. The PDE is discretized by a Galerkin approximation utilizing the method of proper orthogonal decomposition (POD). POD is a powerful approach to derive reduced...
